In his comments on the Houthi rocket attack on Mecca, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar declares it “an absurd aggression and blatant defiance on the part of the defenders of sectarian agendas, which recalls for a seriously instantaneous and firm stand. 

“The Houthi rocket attack on Mecca is an absurd aggression igniting the feelings of more than 1.5 billion Muslims all over the world,” H.E. the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar declares.

“It is an outrageous crime and serious precedent, showing the open defiance of the defenders of sectarian agendas, who pursue to dominate the Arab world, which recalls for a seriously instantaneous and firm stand,” the Grand Imam added.  

Furthermore, the Grand Imam calls on all concerned parties in the Arab and Muslim worlds to take a serious and crucial stand against this unprecedented aggression, which goes beyond all religious, ethical and human limits. In a final alerting remark, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar forewarns: “I remind all officials as well as all those concerned in the world that any defamation or violation of the religious sacred shrines is expected to constitute a threat to the world peace, that peace for which we all work to achieve, enroot and promote for the entire humanity.”
