Al-Azhar warns against any tampering with the Arab and Palestinian identity of Jerusalem

With great concern, Al-Azhar has been following up with the news circulated through the media about the intention of the American administration to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist entity.

Al-Azhar strongly warns against this act, stressing that any declaration on this issue will kindle the feelings of anger among all the Muslims, threaten global peace, and promote tension, division and hatred all over the world.

Moreover, Al-Azhar stresses that the blatant bias in the favor of the Zionist entity and the failure to enforce UN resolutions, aiming to stop its crimes, has encouraged it to persist in its criminal policies against the human rights, lands and sanctities in occupied Palestine. It also made all the people of the world lose confidence in the integrity of the international community. In addition, it is being one of the most important reasons fueling international terrorism.

Al-Azhar reaffirms that the Arab and Palestinian identity of Jerusalem is not subject to change or tampering with, and that the UN charters oblige the occupying power not to affect the situations on the ground or recognize any contrary actions.

Al-Azhar also calls upon the elderly of the world as well as international institutions, particularly the United Nations and its General Assembly, to confront such acts that pose a threat to the international peace and security. Besides, it urges the Muslim and Arab countries to cooperate and stand together against the issuance of this decision.
