Welcome to Al-Azhar Language Center

Al-Azhar English Training Centre (AAETC) is an English language teaching facility at Al-Azhar University in Cairo . The centre opened in February 2008 and operates with the support of the British Council. The centre aims to give students the skills to discuss and explain Islam, especially to non-Muslims, as well as training Egyptian teachers in methodology, mentoring and management. Our purpose is to provide an educational programme to undergraduate students of Islamic Studies. It encourages participants to become critical thinkers and independent learners, enabling them to use English to communicate the Islamic faith and culture and to interact with other faiths and cultures. Our goal is to support this by providing development programmes for teachers in order to promote personal and institutional improvement in teaching and management. We are committed to building bridges between our Islamic community and the world based on our Islamic teachings in a spirit of tolerance, respect and mutual understanding.
