Al-Azhar condemns the terrorist bombing of St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassiya. Al-Azhar emphasizes that targeting places of worship and killing innocent individuals are criminal acts that contradict the teachings of Islam and all religions which call for the protection of places of worship and for respecting and defending them.
Al-Azhar emphasizes complete solidarity with the Egyptian Church and with all Christians, in countering terrorism. Al-Azhar extends sincere condolences to H.H. Pope Tawadros II, to the families of the victims and to all Egyptians, and offers prayers for a speedy recovery to the injured.
