Al-Azhar Mosque bids farewell to the great scholar of Ḥadith, Prof. Sa‛d Gāwῑsh
With deep sorrow, acceptance and submission to Allah’s fate, Al-Azhar Mosque bids farewell to the great scholar Prof. Sa‛d Gāwῑsh, Professor of Ḥadith and Ḥadith Terminology at Al-Azhar University. Prof. Gāwῑsh was one of the most distinguished Ḥadith scholars in Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. He passed away aged 78 years.
The mourners performed the funeral prayer for His Eminence after the Dhuhr (Noon) Prayer at Al-Azhar Mosque to bid farewell to him to his final resting place.
Al-Azhar Mosque classes have embraced Prof. Gāwῑsh as a student, a scholar and a professor of Ḥadith for several decades. Meanwhile, the deceased has greatly benefited students in various parts of the world.
Al-Azhar will always remember him for his knowledge, moderate thought and efforts in explaining the disciplines of Sunnah and promoting its tolerance.
This morning, the Grand Imam issued a statement in which he mourned the deceased and offered his family, students and relatives deep condolences and sympathy.
