On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Al-Azhar Headquarters, Al-Azhar Grand Imam’s Deputy, Prof. Muḥammad Aḍ-Ḍuwīnī, received the Sudanese Minister of Endowments, Naṣruddīn Mufriḥ, and Dr. ˁAbdur-Raḥīm ˁAlī Muḥammad, President of the Islamic Jurisprudence Academy in the Sudan, and their accompanied delegation. The meeting was meant to discuss ways to promote joint cooperation in the fields of Islamic Missionary, and education.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Aḍ-Ḍuwīnī welcomed the Sudanese Minister and his accompanied delegation. He explained that Al-Azhar pays great attention to the Sudanese students, by allocating scholarships to them both in the fields of Islamic disciplines and applied sciences. Aḍ-Ḍuwīnī indicated that the Egyptian and Sudanese people enjoy close ties that stem from the deeply-rooted historical relationship between the two countries.
On his part, the Sudanese Minister of Endowments expressed his thanks and appreciation to Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Grand Imam, Prof. Aḥmad Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, for their constant support to the Sudanese students. He stressed the Sudan’s keenness to benefit from the Azhari approach, wishing for more scholarly efforts between the Sudan and Al-Azhar institution, and for working to set up a branch of Al-Azhar University in the Sudan to be a gateway to promote Islamic disciplines through the moderate curricula of Al-Azhar. Mufriḥ also stressed that Al-Azhar is highly appreciated by all the countries of the Muslim world, as it is the greatest Islamic edifice around the world.
