Inauguration of Imam Aṭ-Ṭayyeb School for Tajweed and memorization of the Noble Qur’an

Inauguration of Imam Aṭ-Ṭayyeb School for Tajweed and memorization of the Noble Qur’an

Based on the Grand Imam’s keenness to regain Al-Azhar’s genuine role as an established referential authority, to strengthen social, intellectual and Da’wah bonds with all international students and protect them from the snares of extremist and terrorist polarization, Professor Mohammad Ad-Duwaini, Deputy Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, endorses the launch of Imam Aṭ-Ṭayyeb School for Tajweed and Memorization of the Noble Qur’an on Sunday, July 4, 2021 (with classes scheduled between 9 am and 12 pm). This step also comes in light of the considerable care of the Center of Education Development for Al-Azhar International Students (CEDAIS), for foreign students’ memorization and proper recitation (Tajweed) of the Noble Qur’an, knowing that Imam Aṭ-Ṭayyeb School shall run under the supervision of Professor Nahla As-Sa’idi, CEDAIS Chair and Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies for the International Students.
And to ensure successful operation of the school, the Deputy Grand Imam has endorsed the following:
1- Study at the school shall directly start on Sunday July 4, 2021 for international students enrolled in educational institutions, (in male-only and female-only classes).
2- All precautionary and preventive measures are observed, including wearing masks by students and faculty members, distancing in classes, and availability of disinfectants and detergents to keep everyone safe.
3- Egyptian students’ admission to the school shall be postponed.
4- The school first starts through in-person classes, followed by online classes (distance learning) that shall commence soon, but only after maintaining regular attendance at in-person classes.
5- All classes shall initially be held in the Islamic Mission Institutes located at Ahmed Saeed Street, opposite to the Mission’s Passports Office. Then study shall expand through new classes in other places (the Mission Hostels, Al-Azhar University, the Primary Mission Institute, within a framework of joint cooperation between the main sectors of Al-Azhar) according to the school enrollment turnout.
6- enrollment shall first be available to international students applying from inside Egypt, then those applying from outside Egypt, at a later stage, through interactive virtual classes (distant learning).
7- The tutors are Al-Azhar University professors and scholars specializing in the established modes of recitation reported from the Prophet (pbuh).
8- There shall be attendance and leave forms, as well as daily assessment (follow-up cards) for international students in memorizing the Noble Qur’an.
9- Lunch is provided to students not residing at the Islamic Mission Hostels.
10- Application is always available for all those wishing to study and memorize the Noble Qur’an, through Al-Azhar website at the following link: www.azhar.eg/school.
11- Any foreign student can enroll and attend the classes, whether or not they are registered through the Al-Azhar website.
12- It is necessary for the student to show passport or ID for verification.
13- Every male and female student must bring a copy of the Qur’an (Mushaf).
It is worth noting that CEDAIS has developed a new approach at the Imam Aṭ-Ṭayyeb School in cooperation with the Chair of the Mushaf Review Committee at Al-Azhar.

With CEDAIS announcing inauguration of the school, through Al-Azhar website and social media webpages, there was a great application turnout from inside and outside Egypt.
