His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmed Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, received Mr. Volker Kauder, MP of the German Parliament.

     The Grand Imam said that religions are innocent of terrorism and murder committed in their names, adding that some of the political agendas ignite conflicts and wars in the region in order to dominate the region's fate and capabilities. He also expressed his appreciation of MP Kauder interest in the issues of peace and societal coexistence.

     On his part, Kauder said that Egypt is a model of religious and human coexistence, stressing that Germany is keen to be guided by the views of the Grand Imam on the issues of the region and the world, being the greatest Islamic symbol, for his great role in establishing a culture of dialogue and acceptance of the other.
