On Sunday morning, April 21, 2019, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmed Aṭ-Ṭayyeb received Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population to discuss cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Health in the field of health care. His Eminence said that Al-Azhar, based on its social responsibility towards all the Egyptians, is working on caring for the sick, especially the poorest cases. The Egyptian Zakat and Charity House and the Health Sector at Al-Azhar are directed at intensifying medical convoys that offer free treatment and medicine to the poor everywhere in Egypt.

     On her part, Dr. Hala Zayed thanked the Grand Imam for supporting the poor and fighting diseases. She pointed out that Al-Azhar and The Egyptian Zakat and Charity House’s support for the health sector contributed to reducing the waiting lists and saving the lives of thousands of cases that otherwise would not afford to pay for their own treatment. Dr. Zayed also expressed her aspiration for a continual cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Health.
