On Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, a high-level delegation of Al-Azhar leaders attended the ceremony of appointing Bishop Miguel Guixot, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, as a cardinal for Interreligious dialogue in the Holy Catholic Church, in addition to a number of other cardinals.

     The delegation included Sheikh Ṣaliḥ ‛Abbās, Al-Azhar Grand Imam's Deputy, Prof. Muḥammad Al-Maḥraṣāwi, President of Al-Azhar University, and Prof. Muḥammad Abu Zeid Al-᾿Amῑr, Vice President of Al-Azhar University.

     Al-Azhar delegation congratulated Cardinal Miguel Guixot, wishing him a fruitful service in the field of interreligious dialogue. They stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination among religious leaders to support and stabilize the homelands, confirming that religions are the right way for peoples to draw closer.
