The Grand Imam receives Dr. Ghada Wali and states, “Selecting you in such high international position is an indication of the ability of Egyptian and Arab women to hold the highest international positions”

     On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Aḥmed Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, received Dr. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity. During the meeting, the Grand Imam expressed his wishes of success to Dr. Ghada Wali in her new mission, after being selected to the post of the Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Combating Drugs and Crime. He also expressed his wishes that her new position would help humankind overcome what they suffer from, such as crimes, corruption and terrorism, and to always work to be a supporter for her country in various international forums.

     His Eminence also stressed that selecting an Egyptian figure to occupy this high international position is a sign that Egypt enjoys a high esteem and a great international stance. It is also a sign of the ability of Egyptian and Arab women to occupy highest international positions.

     On her part, Dr. Ghada Wali expressed her thanks to the Grand Imam for the great support that Al-Azhar has been providing to the Ministry of Social Solidarity throughout the recent period. To her, this has contributed to solving the problems of thousands of the needy, the sick and the homeless by providing adequate housing and thousands of job opportunities for them, and solving many of their social and financial problems. This is achieved in cooperation with the Egyptian Zakah and Charity House, and other religious organizations of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
