During a meeting with a delegation of the bishops of France, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, “The Human Fraternity Document (HFD) is a safe way out of the problems of the East and the West”.

     On Saturday, Jan 18, 2020, at Al-Azhar Headquarters, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmed Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, received a delegation of the bishops of France assigned to revive the path of the Holy Family.

     The Grand Imam said that it was our right as Egyptians to be proud of the journey of the Holy Family and the Virgin Mary. The journey has already motivated many people to come to Egypt to learn about its historical details. He stressed that Egypt has always been a blessed land, visited by Prophets and Messengers such as Jesus, Moses and Abraham (May Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon them and upon our Prophet Muḩammad).

     He added, “The HFD that I signed with my brother Pope Francis, which crowned a whole year of hard work and sincere effort between Al-Azhar and the Vatican, is a safe way out of human problems in the East and the West”. He added that the formation of a higher committee working to achieve the goals of such document and translating its provisions into reality is a prominent positive step in the field of human fraternity.

     On their part, the members of the delegation of the bishops of France expressed their great pleasure for meeting the Grand Imam. They also expressed their appreciation of the efforts of His Eminence that aim to work for humanity and consolidate the culture of dialogue and coexistence. They also stressed that openness and good relations between the two largest religious institutions in the world, Al-Azhar and the Vatican, will reap the good fruits for the world, and benefit all believers everywhere.
