Al-Azhar Grand Imam congratulates the winners of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity: “They are pillars of peace and role models.”

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Aḥmad Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, has congratulated Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mrs. Laṭīfa Bin Ziaten, a French activist, for their winning the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity, in its second season.

During his speech at the celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, the Grand Imam said, “My greetings are due to Mr. Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. This honor is well deserved as Mr. Guterres is not only one of the major peacemakers in the world, but he is probably the most durable and strongest pillar of peace that is anticipated to prevail in the entire world, God willing.”

The Grand Imam has also congratulated Mrs. Laṭīfa Bin Ziaten, a French activist, saying, “Dear Sister Mrs. Laṭīfa, we all definitely share pain and sorrow with you. With your patience, you have transformed your ordeal and tragedy into a gift for all humanity. This is a gift of peace and supremacy that has risen over the event despite the hard and most painful matter that has befallen you. Such pain is one that continues throughout one’s whole life. You have presented a message of peace, security and safety all over the world countries. You are encouraging us, and those who are like us, to go forward to fight the wild beast called ‘terrorism’. We thank you very much for embodying the strong and patient woman. You are lucky to be the mother of a martyr now enjoying the bliss of Paradise, and you are a role model to all countries. I do thank you and convey to you greetings from Al-Azhar and its scholars. You are a strong idealistic mother who deserves such award and even more.”
