Al-Azhar Observatory, “The number of people storming into the Ibrahimi Mosque in 2019 is the largest since the occupation of Jerusalem”.

Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) issued its annual report on the number of people storming into the courtyards of the Ibrahimi Mosque during the year 2019. The AOCE reported that this year witnessed unprecedented records in the desecration of the Noble Sanctuary in the occupied old town of Hebron, where the number of intruders reached 711,428 Zionists.

In its report, the AOCE noted that the number of intruders during 2019 was the largest since the Zionist occupation of the city of Jerusalem in 1967. It also estimated that the number of intruders increased by 77% compared with 2018, as they then were 401,022 extremist settlers.

The AOCE also pointed out that the Zionist government’s encouragement of extremist groups was the main reason for increasing the number of intruders, aiming to attract the far right-wing voices and achieve political gains. The AOCE pointed out that the storming of the occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accompanied by the Speaker of the Knesset, Yuli Edelstein and a number of officials into the courtyards of the Ibrahimi Mosque on September 4 last year was a dangerous historical precedent.

The AOCE stressed that the campaign of Zionist violations to which the courtyards of the Ibrahimi Mosque are frequently subjected, and the repressive measures taken by the usurping oppressive machine will not succeed in implementing the malicious plans aiming to effect temporal and spatial division in the Noble Sanctuary. Such plans will never change the right of Muslims in it. The AOCE warned of the grave consequences of the international silence regarding these violations, which is a provocation to the feelings of millions of Arabs and Muslims. Such violations will definitely drag the region to more tension and escalation, the AOCE concluded.
