During the inaugural session of Al-Azhar ...

During the inaugural session of Al-Azhar Renewal Conference, the Prime Minister honors Zaqzouq and Wāṣil.

     On Monday, Jan 27, 2020, on behalf of H.E. President ‛Abdel Fattāḥ El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, honored two members of Al-Azhar Council of Senior Scholars (ACSS). He honored Prof. Maḩmoud Ḩamdī Zaqzouq, an Islamic thinker, former Egyptian Minister of Endowments, and Professor Naṣr Farῑd Wāṣil, the former Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The honor has come in appreciation of their great efforts to renew Islamic thought, promote peace and the tolerance of Islam.

     This honor came during the inaugural session of "Al-Azhar Conference on Renovation in Islamic Thought", held by Al-Azhar under the auspices of President El-Sisi in the period from 27-28 January 2020. The session also witnessed honoring a number of prominent scholars of the Muslim Nation, in appreciation of their great efforts in renewing and promoting enlightened moderate Islamic thought.

     Al-Azhar holds its Conference on Renovation of Islamic Thought on Monday and Tuesday, January 27-28, 2020, under the auspices of President ‛Abdel Fattāḥ El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in the presence of a group of senior political leaders and prominent religious figures of the world, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Endowments, Fatwa Houses and Islamic Councils from 46 countries of the Muslim world. The themes of the conference focus on the frameworks of the conception of renewal and its mechanisms, refuting misconceptions, handling women and family issues, and addressing the role of international religious and academic institutions in  renewing Islamic thought.
