In the International Women’s Day Anniversary, The Secretary General of Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy (AIRA) said, “Islam has honored women and gave them a special social status in all fields.
The AIRA Secretary General, Prof. Naẓīr Muḥammad ˁAyyād congratulated the Egyptian women; mothers, sisters and wives on the occasion of the International Women's Day. He stressed on her effective role in society. The woman is an essential partner in the construction and development of the society. She educates and prepares a generation of young people capable of facing challenges and standing in front of difficulties.
In this context, the Secretary General said, “Islam honored women and gave them a special social status in all fields. In addition, the Islamic Sharīʿah established the principle of equality between men and women in duties, and gave women all their rights. These rights are clear in the Noble Qur’ān and the Honorable Sunnah.”
ˁAyyād added that Islam looks at women with a view of honor and pride, since she is the man’s counterpart in bearing the responsibilities of life, as our Prophet (PBUH) affirmed by saying, “Indeed women are counterparts of men.” The Prophet (PBUH) was keen on caring for women, and he was always calling to the good treatment towards them. The Prophet (PBUH) repeatedly said to his companions, “Treat women kindly.”
Finally, the Secretary General stated that throughout history, Egyptian women have demonstrated their ability to excel in various practical, scholarly, cultural, social, economic, artistic and other fields.
