My aunt died, but I missed the funeral prayer. Now, I want to make up for this prayer. What can I do?

Answer:

     Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger (PBUH).

     Our dear brother: it is permissible for the one who missed the funeral prayer to make up for it at the graveyard.

     Ibn Majah narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: “A black woman who used to sweep the mosque died at night. In the following morning, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was told of her death, so he (PBUH) said, ‘Why did not you call me?’ Then, he went out with his Companions, stood at her grave and performed the funeral prayer with the people behind him. He prayed for her and then went away.”
