AIRA Secretary-General Meets the General Union Delegation of the Egyptian Expatriates in USA

     Today, the Secretary-General of Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy (AIRA), Dr. Nazir Ayyad met the General Union delegation of the Egyptians Abroad (USA). The delegation included, Mr. Essam Youssef, Vice President of the Union, Dr. Nadia Henry, Union Coordinator, and Dr. Imad Basha, Professor of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, New York University. It also included Dr. Issam El-Din Mohamed Atwa, Protocol Advisor of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in New York, and Advisor to the Union Committee of the Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Wael Lotfallah, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the American Charisma Newspaper. The meeting discussed ways of cooperation in various fields.

     At the beginning of this meeting, the Secretary-General welcomed the delegation, and expressed his happiness at the mutual cooperation. He stressed that this cooperation stems from Al-Azhar’s global role under the leadership of Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb. The Secretary-General added that Al-Azhar’s global message welcomes all aspects of cooperation in order to achieve its tolerant message and spread moderation in various fields all over the world. In this respect, Al-Azhar foreign missions, education of international students, academic publications, and Al-Azhar continuous support to establish social peace among all peoples confirm the greatness and humanity of its message.

     In this Concern, the Secretary-General gave the delegation an overview of the efforts of Al-Azhar sectors, mainly, the achievements of various departments of the Academy. In this overview, Ayyad indicated the efforts of Al-Azhar sectors, under the leadership of Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, in spreading moderation and tolerance in the world through cooperation and integration with all scientific and cultural institutions, especially in education and the dissemination of culture and knowledge. He stressed the Egyptian President’s support for the global role played by Al-Azhar.

     The Secretary-General said that the Academy is ready to cooperate with Al-Azhar sectors in various fields: teaching Arabic, degree equivalency, enrolling students to study at Al-Azhar, and academic counselling through specialized professors, in addition to responding to questions, inquiries and contemporary legal and jurisprudential issues.

     The delegation, for their part, expressed their appreciation for the efforts of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and its Grand Imam in various important issues that aim to immunize young people against the misconceptions promoted by some currents, as well as its role in spreading a culture of peace and peaceful coexistence among all mankind.
