What is the ruling on video games that simulate witchcraft?

     All praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah and upon all his Family and Companions.

     A Muslim must revere and sanctify what Allah Almighty has made sacred in his Sharia. He must not be preoccupied with things that Islam has demeaned and forbidden such as witchcraft, which is a major sin.

     Therefore, it is not permissible for any Muslim to play such games that contain magic, sorcery and incantations, since they have a number of prohibitions. Such prohibitions range from giving attention to, veneration of, and preoccupation with what Allah Almighty has forbidden to practicing them in a way that results in familiarity and accepting rather than refraining from them as major sins.

     Islam has forbidden telling lies even jokingly as it makes a person familiar with sins and lies. Disobeying Sharia rules also tames the soul to spread sins instead of concealing, refuting or abandoning them.
