Science Leads to Faith not to Atheism as They Claim

Science Leads to Faith not to Atheism as They Claim, Said AIRA Secretary General

In the 6th episode of his program “Toward Proper Understanding,” Dr. Nazir Ayyad, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy (AIRA), explained the reasons that led to the emergence and spread of atheism, and its negative effects on individuals and societies.

The recent scientific discoveries are considered one of the reasons for the emergence of atheism, which led to the scientific obsession for sanctifying science and taking its outcomes for granted. However, if a person looks at science objectively, he will realize that it leads to faith, said The Secretary-General.

Ayyad added that people with this concept about science believed that with their achievements and scientific discoveries, they would dispense with Allah – Exalted be He- and that existence is limited to what is seen or perceived by one of the senses. All this led them to deny altogether some of the matters that are mentioned in the Shari’a (Islamic law) such as: the split of the moon, the incident when the fire did not harm our Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and other miracles.

In this context, the Secretary-General stated that science perceives these issues from a narrow perspective, where it handles them through its laws and precepts, without considering the leaps and departures from these laws and precepts that may happen in nature. Ayyad added that passing judgment on unseen matters should not be given through the laws and precepts of science, considering that Allah is the Creator of all these matters, Exalted be He.

Finally, Dr. Ayyad stated that among the reasons that led to atheism is the claim that there is a conflict between faith and science, which is a serious and unfounded issue. In this respect, the Secretary General stressed that there is no contradiction between faith and science, as science has a huge field where it can delve into, away from the unseen matters.
