Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy (AIRA) has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign entitled, “An Excellent Role Model”. The campaign comes as part of the Academy efforts to address societal issues that influence the peoples’ real life and to make them aware of many issues and problems facing the society. Such issues and problems represent a challenge that impedes the current of the development nowadays. This campaign copes with the directives of His Eminence, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Aḥmad Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, to activate and raise the level of awareness among citizens by intensifying awareness campaigns in various fields, encouraging and motivating them to take positive action.
In this concern, the AIRA Secretary General Prof. Naẓīr ʿAyyād said that Islam takes care of building excellent role models in all fields through Divine commands and prophetic directives, as they represent great significance specially that good ideas, values and behaviors are transmitted to others through such good examples, mainly in the early stages of life. He explained that young people may not comply with the directions and dialogues, but they could be convinced through good examples’ deeds on seeing practicing them without being asked to do so.
ʿ Ayyād added that the campaign states the steps of building a role model by showing the prophet’s (PBUH) approach with his companions, since he (PBUH) made them role models in doing and guiding people to do good and set them as models of integrity, righteousness, generosity and effective and influential tools in the society.
Finally, the Secretary General stated that the campaign aims to clarify the human responsibility of every member in the society. He also emphasized the importance of taking it, especially in the light of the current circumstances that the whole world is going through which require from all of us to be role models, fully prepared and aware in facing the challenges and overcoming them.
