AIRA Secretary General Meets EOIC President to Discuss Al-Azhar Preachers’ Role in Confronting Extremist Ideology
The Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy (AIRA), Dr. Nazeer Ayyad met Dr. Muhajiri Zayan Siefan, President of the European Organization of the Islamic Centers (EOIC), in order to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides in the field of combating extremism and terrorism, and training imams and preachers.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General welcomed Dr. Siefan, expressing his happiness with this cooperation, stressing that it stems from Al-Azhar’s universal role under the leadership of the Grand Imam Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb - Sheikh of Al-Azhar. He also mentioned Al-Azhar’s universal message of raising awareness and spreading tolerance and peace among peoples. Al-Azhar Al-Sharif has always been keen to achieve this message throughout its history.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General reviewed the efforts of Egypt and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif - under the leadership of the Grand Imam - Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, to spread moderation, and tolerance in the world, through the Grand Imam’s international conferences and tours and through the efforts of Al-Azhar’s envoys and international students worldwide.
Dr. Siefan, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and its Grand Imam to fortify the youth against extremist ideology and terrorism in addition to his efforts to spread the culture of peace and peaceful coexistence among all humankind. Finally, Siefan said he was looking forward to cooperating with Al-Azhar in all fields, especially the field of training the European Imams.
