Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Congratulates President Al-Sisi and the Egyptian People of the AU’s Presidency

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif’s Grand Imam, scholars and students congratulate his Excellency President Abd Al-Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Egyptian people on presiding over the African Union in its 32nd cycle.
Al-Azhar stresses that Egypt’s presidency over the AU comes in that period in which the African continent makes ambitious steps towards unity and comprehensive development, so that it would hold its due position among the world’s advanced continents, especially in light of the huge natural and human resources it has and the various cultures and civilization it enjoys. Al-Azhar also views Egypt’s presidency over the AU as considerable success for the Egyptian diplomacy, which reflects Egypt’s leading role in Africa and pivotal role it plays on the Arab, regional and international levels.
In this context, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif stresses its continuous support to Egypt’s actions in Africa through its envoys found everywhere in Africa, the preaching, relief and medical delegations that visit a lot of the continent’s countries, and its efforts in training the African Imams on how to resist to extremist thoughts and providing them with the moderate Azharite curricula, let alone the thousands of the African students who study in the different education stages in Al-Azhar and who serve as ambassadors to Egypt and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
