The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar heads today to Saudi Arabia to participate in Tweeps Forum

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar  Prof. Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb heads today, Saturday, to Saudi Arabia  to deliver a speech tomorrow in the exceptional session of Tweeps Forum launched by the crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz  Philanthropic Foundation "MiSK". The forum will be attended by a number of leading scholars, presidents, political, diplomatic and youth leaders, thinkers and decision-makers.  The forum which will be attended by representatives from more than 40 countries, in addition to US President Donald Trump will focus on counterterrorism.

 

The Grand Imam is scheduled to deliver a speech to the Arab and Islamic young people in a special session convened on "Hate Speech and Extremism: Their Impact on Young People".  His Eminence will shed light on the efforts of Al-Azhar in combating extremism, correcting misconceptions and countering the discourse of violence, intolerance and hatred, as part of Al-Azhar strategy to employ all modern means of communication to achieve as much effective communication as possible with Muslims and non-Muslims around the world in order to promote and spread the culture of peace.

 

The Grand Imam has received an official invitation to participate in the "Tweeps Forum", which is an interactive event that connects young people interested in social media with social media pioneers to engage in a meaningful discussion about social media topics, and share creative and positive ideas. The recent round of the Forum, the 5th one, titled "Combating Extremism and Terrorism" will focus on ways and mechanisms to protect young people against online extremism and violent ideologies and the rhetoric of hatred. It will also focus on their role in counterterrorism efforts led by various governments.
