His eminence Prof. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Chairman of Muslim Council of Elders travels today for the German capital, Berlin in a multi-day tour during which he is to address the West from the Bundstag.
The Grand Imam's tour is scheduled to be a busy one, as he is expected to meet with a number of German ministers and officials including the speaker of the parliament, Norbert Lamart. As well, the Imam will have an open discussion on "Islam and Peace", with a number of German MPs, representatives of religious sects, some scholars and researchers.
In the same vein, the Grand Imam is scheduled to participate in the World Religions Conference under the title of “Peace be upon you” “Assalamu Alaikum”; a conference due to be held in Münster. Al-Tayyeb is furthermore scheduled to attend a number of press and media meetings with the most widespread German Media, to place emphasis on the necessity of spreading the values of tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
This tour clearly indicates the big efforts exerted by his eminence Al-Azhar Grand Imam to spread peace all over the world and to start civilization dialogue between East and West that is based on mutual respect, accepting the other and instilling the principles of democracy, freedom and man's right to peaceful life.
