The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Prof. Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb; the head of the Muslim Council of Elders the Indonesian, as their country is the largest purist Sunni Muslim country, against the danger of calls for the Shiism.
During his visit to the Centre for Qur’anic Studies in Jakarta, His Eminence stressed that the unity among Muslims is necessary and we repeatedly call for it provided that some parties do not exploit it to spread private political and sectarian agendas, particularly which mostly leads to internal strife among Muslims.
His Eminence directed the Sunni youths to adhere to the doctrine of the Sunnis (Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah) and to avoid the calls for the reprehensible sectarianism, assuring that Al-Azhar approach in belief, thought and behavior is the guarantee for securing the Ummah not to be a victim of falling into the danger of extremism, sectarianism and division.
