Upon receiving a formal invitation, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb will travel to Rome during the next few days on an official visit, during which he meets with H.E.Sergio Mattarella, president of Italy to hold discussions over issues of mutual concern.
It is scheduled that the Grand Imam will deliver a universal speech before the Italian Parliament's two chambers (Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic) about "Religions and Peace". The speech will focus on the message of peace that all prophets and messengers came with, in addition to emphasizing the values of moderation, mutual coexistence and rejection of violence and extremism.
The visit comes as a part of the Imam's strenuous efforts to constitute a civilized dialogue between the East and the West that is based on respecting and accepting the other and reinforcing the principles of democracy, freedom and man's right to live in peace.
