Dr. Mohie Ed-deen Afifi, the secretary- general of the Islamic Research Academy (AIRA), revealed that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif peace delegations – formed in cooperation with the Muslim Council of Elders - headed to Italy, China and Central African Republic on Thursday. The Secretary-General added that these delegations were sent in the framework of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif's efforts to spread the moderation of Islam; correct widespread misconceptions about it; spread the culture of peace and coexistence among Muslims and others within different communities. The delegations are aiming at instilling the culture of accepting others, intellectual diversity and respecting the laws of the countries Muslims live in.
Afifi stressed that these delegations were sent to reveal Al-Azhar Al-Sharif's vision of spreading international peace in collaboration with the Muslim Council of Elders headed by his Eminence Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the grand imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar made sure to send these delegations to different countries in Africa, Asia, and the United States of America. He also pointed out that these delegations work to observe conditions of Muslims in different countries to learn about, study and solve their queries and critical problems.
The Secretary-General also said that those peace delegations would be continuously sent to different countries around the world to spread the true message of Islam and correct widespread misconceptions.
