Secretary-General of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Islamic Research Academy Discusses Islamic ‪‎Takaful‬‬ Insurance in Abu Dhabi Conference

Dr. Mohie Ed-deen Afifi, the secretary-general of the Islamic Research Academy, participated and delivered a conference paper in ‪‎Abu Dhabi Islamic Insurance Conference held on 8th of March, 2015 in St. Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The conference is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of presidential affairs under the theme: "Reality and Prospects for the Development of Islamic Insurance Regulations". Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, minister of economy, opened the Islamic Insurance Conference.

Dr. Afifi has delivered his conference paper which was entitled "Foundations and Rules upon which Islamic Takaful Insurance is established ". The paper tackled a number of areas concerning the insurance sector as one of the main sectors in both banking and financial sectors. Insurance has become a complimentary part of the banking system, however, not least important; especially because of the liquidity insurance companies achieve. Due to the security insurance provides, the economic development of any country is now esteemed by the development of the industries of insurance, banking and businesses.

In his speech" Foundations and Rules upon which Islamic Takaful Insurance is established", Dr. Afifi tackled many areas; such as the Islamic legitimacy of Takaful insurance in ‪‎Islam , the origins, foundations, rules, challenges and the means of promoting Islamic Takaful insurance.

He also concluded by proposing means of promoting Islamic Takaful insurance through clearing confusion about a number of issues; Islamic foundations and conditions of Islamic Takaful insurance system that set it apart from traditional insurance system; and establishing and developing Islamic legitimate structure suitable for the industry of Islamic Takaful insurance to serve and meet the needs of the people. It's not likely that Islamic countries that adopt traditional insurance system would obstacle the application of Islamic Takaful Insurance system rather than provide adequate support to facilitate its application and activate the role of the censorship of Islamic sharia bodies.
