His Eminence Dr Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of al-Azhar al-Sharif, today in his office in Cairo, received Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, the Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).
Talks during this meeting centered on cooperation relations between ISESCO and the institution of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in areas of common interest and ways of strengthening them during this year and as part of ISESCO Action Plan for 2016-2018, with focus on promoting dialogue of cultures and coexistence between followers of religions, providing accurate information on Islam, countering Islamophobia, and protecting Muslim youth against sectarianism, intellectual extremism, fanaticism and aberration.
At the end of the meeting, Dr Altwaijri presented the Grand Imam of al-Azhar al-Sharif with ISESCO Golden Medal, in recognition of his efforts in serving Islam and its noble message.
