Al-Azhar Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the British Council

The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al- Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received Mr. Ciaran Devane , Chief Executive of the British Council, in a meeting in which a memorandum of understanding was signed between Al- - Azhar and the British Council in Egypt for teaching English to Azhar students.

The Grand Imam welcomed Mr. Devane and his accompanying delegation and expressed his aspirations for a fruitful cooperation in the fields of training instructors and graduates.

The Grand Imam emphasized that Al-Azhar is working on preparing graduates of the center of teaching English at Al- Azhar to teach Islamic Seince in English speaking African and Asian countries. His eminence also emphasized that Al-Azhar seeks to set a program for translation of texts.

Mr. Devane emphasized that the British Council appreciates the efforts of the Grand Imam in presenting the vision of Al-Azhar to the whole world, adding that he aspires for a long and constructive partnership with Al – Azhar to support Azharite scholars and students in promoting the message of Al – Azhar to the world.

Mr. Davane added that the British Council will look into all the requirements of Al-Azhar and expert all efforts in meeting these requirements.

He Also expressed his delight in his presence at Al – Azhar, the greatest Islamic institution, to sign a memorandum  of understanding between Al – Azhar and the British Council .
