His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Head of the Muslim Council of Elders, wishes that 2018 would be a year of good and peace to the entire humanity, calling for spreading the culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence and renouncing all forms of racism, extremism and terrorism all over the world.
With coming of the New Year, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar stresses that the entire world should work together to spread the values of justice and equality, confirming meanwhile that all mankind should work to alleviate the sufferings of the weak, the deprived and the oppressed all over the world. His Eminence further adds that the culture of dialogue must prevail among the members of different communities.
His Eminence the Grand Imam strongly emphasized that the last years’ experiences and the records of ancient and modern history had proved that peace and prosperity of mankind can never be fragmented, denied or ignored." He affirmed that it is impossible for one part of the universe to enjoy peace and prosperity while the other is still languishing in chaos and deprivation. That is why the international community’s active powers, says the Grand Imam, must take a step to put an end to the starvations, poverty and marginalization striking the world nowadays, confirming that the starvations in Africa, persecution in Burma and the occupation of Palestine and the ongoing attempts to usurp the rights and sanctities of the Palestinians are all urgent issues that must top the agenda of the world’s priorities in the New Year.
Seizing this opportunity, the Grand Imam invokes Allah, the Almighty, to make this New Year one of good and hard work to achieve the progress of our beloved Egypt and our Islamic and Arab worlds, asking Allah the Almighty, help us all work together to achieve the progress of the entire world in a way that maintains peace and prosperity and guarantees a good future for all mankind.
