During his meeting with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar:- "Al-Azhar opens the door to dialogue with all people to promote the values of peace and coexistence"

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar:- “The relationship between Al-Azhar and Canterbury is a model for cooperation between leaders and followers of religions”
Queen Elizabeth II: - “The world relies heavily on religious leaders to promote global peace.” She added: “I'm happy that Your Eminence have accepted the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury to stay at the Lambeth Palace”

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the President of the Muslim Council of Elders Prof. Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb met Thursday, evening, with Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom, at Windsor Castle, at the beginning of his visit to London. During the meeting, the Grand Imam expressed his happiness to visit Britain, meet Her Majesty the Queen, and visit Windsor Palace. He noted that Al-Azhar is very pleased with the close relationship with the Archbishopric of Canterbury, as this relationship represents a model of cooperation and communication between leaders and followers of different religions and cultures. The Grand Imam showed that Al-Azhar opens the doors to dialogue and communication with all people, in order to promote values of coexistence, dialogue and acceptance of the other, and encourage the followers of different religions and cultures to integrate positively in their communities. For her part, Queen Elizabeth II welcomed the visit of the Grand Imam to Britain for the second time, pointing out that the world relies heavily on religious leaders to promote stability and global peace. The British Queen praised the growing cooperation between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Archbishop of Canterbury, expressing her happiness that the Grand Imam had accepted the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to stay at the Lambeth Palace. The meeting was attended by Dr. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury.
