Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the president of the Muslim Council of Elders arrived Wednesday evening in a four-day-visit, marking the second stop of his external tour started last Monday with his visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
His Eminence, the Grand Imam will hold a number of meetings with senior political and religious officials at the top of them the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev; the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, and the Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev. His Eminence the Grand Imam will also visit a number of key historical and Islamic sites in Uzbekistan
His eminence will attend signing a Protocol of cooperation between Al-Azhar University and International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan. He will perform the Jum’ah Prayer in Imam Al-Bukhari Complex in Samarkand.
During his visit to Kazakhstan, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayeb is accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes: Prof. Muhammed al-Mahrasawy, President of Al-Azhar University; Judge Muhammad Abd Al-Salam, Legal Advisor to the Grand Imam; Ambassador Abd Al-Rahman Musa, the Grand Imam’s Advisor for the International Students Affairs; Dr. Sultan Al Remeithi, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders and Mr. Mustafa Abdul Jawwad, Supervisor of Al-Azhar Media Center.
