Al-Azhar Grand Imam Congratulates President Al-Sisi and the Muslim Ummah on the New Hijri Year

His Eminence Prof. Ahmed Al-Taiyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, congratulates Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the entire Muslim Ummah around the world on the new Hijri Year, asking Allah, Most High, to make it a year of blessings, welfare, security and safety.
In this regard, Al-Azhar stresses that the blessed Prophetic Hijrah is a milestone in the Islamic History, the life of our Prophet (PBUH) and the entire history of the Islamic Da‘wah, since it instructed Muslims to follow the role model of our Prophet (PBUH) in entrusting affairs to Allah, Most High, enduring hardship in the cause of spreading his Da‘wah and offering the best example of peaceful co-existence with non-Muslims.
In this vein, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif states that Hijrah showcased the value of home in Islam, the necessity of employing the lawful worldly means and the virtue of the Companions of the Messenger, migrants and supporters alike.
With this in mind, Al-Azhar calls upon Muslims around the world to carefully examine the lessons of this blessed occasion, to do their best to show the tolerance and mercy of Islam and to apply the actions and behavior of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the ground so that they would offer conclusive evidence on the greatness of this religion and the high rank of that Prophet sent by Allah as mercy to mankind.
