The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Prof. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb headed Al-Azhar delegation that visited St. Mark's Cathedral in Cairo today to congratulate His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and the Christian brothers on the Christmas holidays.
The Grand Imam offered his sincere well wishes to the Christian brothers, praying to God the Almighty for this year to be a year of goodness, love and happiness, and for the pandemic and affliction to come to an end. Al-Tayyeb stressed that the Heavenly Messages have many moral commonalities, including the values of peace and fraternity.
For his part, Pope Tawadros welcomed the Grand Imam and the delegation of Al-Azhar, expressing his happiness at renewing the bonds of love and cordiality between Muslims and Christians, which reflects the strength of their relation, stressing that preserving the fabric of the Egyptian family is a joint religious, educational, cultural and media responsibility that may revive societal values in the face of the deviant trends that plague morals and values.
