Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) is closely following the Zionist “Flag March”, which started with racist slogans and chants against the Palestinians, as well as calls to demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque, construct the so-called “Third Temple” and close the surroundings of Bab al-Amoud and the Old City. At the same time, strong confrontations out broke between Palestinians and Zionist settlers, and assaults committed by settler groups continued throughout the occupied Palestine. This came at a time where the colonial government refused to cancel the Flag March or change its course from Bab Al Amoud, the alleys of occupied Old Jerusalem and the courtyard of the Islamic "Al-Buraq Wall".
It is noteworthy that this march coincides with the Zionist #Quds Day, which is attended by the former Prime Minister of the Zionist entity and Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir, who was responsible for igniting a same crisis last year.
The AOCE warned earlier against the consequences of these continuous provocations, backed by the occupying entity, which will only exacerbate the situation. Apparently, this is exactly what the parties involved aspire to.
