The Program of the Journey of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders to Bahrain

     The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar participates in the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue and leads the 16th Session of the Muslim Council of Elders
Official meetings with His Majesty the King of Bahrain, Pope Francis, religious figures, university presidents and a number of young people
H.E. Prof. Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb, The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar  and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, will arrive next Thursday to the Kingdom of Bahrain in a several-day-official visit, at the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, in order to participate in the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: “East and West for Human Coexistence,” scheduled to be held on Thursday and Friday, November 3-4, under the auspices of His Majesty the King of Bahrain. The Forum will be attended also by His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, as well as about 200 figures including representatives of world religions and prominent intellectual and media figures.
The Grand Imam is scheduled to hold official meetings with His Majesty the King of Bahrain and His Holiness the Pope of the Vatican. On the evening of his first day of journey, the Grand Imam will hold a meeting with some of the religious leaders participating in the Forum.
The second day will have a busy program, as His Majesty the King of Bahrain, along with the Grans Imam of Al-Azhar, and the Pope of the Vatican will plant a palm tree, as an expression of the ecological importance of palm trees in countering climate change. Then His Majesty the King of Bahrain will accompany the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Dr. Al-Tayyib and Pope Francis to the headquarters of the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue between East and West to deliver the closing speeches. 
The Grand Imam will hold a meeting with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, then a bilateral meeting with Pope Francis. After that, both the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Pope Francis will hold a joint meeting between the Muslim Council of Elders and senior leaders of the Catholic Church.
On the third day, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders will hold a number of important meetings with prominent Islamic and Christian bodies, and a number of university leaders and university young people. The Grand Imam will meet also with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, then a group of Bahraini young people and the youth of the Emerging Peacemaker Forum participating in the Conference.  
It is scheduled that the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, will arrive to Cairo on Sunday dawn.
