On April 12, 2023, Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) held an awareness symposium as part of the "Towards a Youth-Oriented Vision for Combating Extremism and Terrorism" program in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. AOCE received a number of students from Beni Suef University, aiming to build bridges of trust and dialogue with young people, spread awareness, and correct misconceptions propagated on social media platforms by extremist groups. The first lecture shed light on the danger of exploiting technology by extremists to recruit new adult victims, while the second lecture was about the mechanisms to protect minds from such delusive thoughts. Notably, this visit has been preceded by a number of activities as a part of the cooperation protocol between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and a number of local and international bodies in countering violent extremism.
