Al-Azhar renews its Call for Boycotting of Swedish Products

Al-Azhar renews its call for boycotting of Swedish products and urges Muslim nations to adopt strong and united stands over Qur’an burning; and asks institutions and Fatwa bodies to publish fatwa (legal Islamic opinions) for boycotting Swedish products.
After repeated blatant violations against the Qur’an and persistent provocations for all Muslims under the pretext of freedom of expression and opinion, Al-Azhar al-Sharif calls on all Arab and Muslim nations to boycott Swedish products in support of the Glorious Qur’an.
Furthermore, Al-Azhar urges all Muslim and Arab nations to take influential and united positions against such grave violations, which are nothing short of criminal acts and heinous crimes against Islamic sanctities. Al-Azhar stresses that the permit given by Swedish authorities for extremists to burn the Glorious Qur’an during Eid al-Adha is an explicit call for enmity, violence, and sparking discords, which is unbecoming of any civilized country.
Al-Azhar is desperately sorry such pro-extremism decisions are extremism taken by institutions and bodies that have always boasted about respecting pluralism and equality, even portraying themselves as protectors of freedoms and cultural diversity, while reality speaks that these are mere slogans and that Muslims’ rights in these countries, compared to citizens of other religions, are still under consideration!
Meanwhile, Al-Azhar calls on all fatwa bodies worldwide to issue a decisive fatwa that Swedish products must be boycotted to show how much Muslims glory in their sacred book and sanctities, being the least role assumable by fatwa scholars in the Arab and Islamic world towards the Noble Qur’an.
