Al-Azhar stresses that supporting countries militarily with training and arming contributes to combating terrorism and drying up the sources of extremism.
Following the announcement by the Nigerien Ministry of Defense that they had received heavy weapons and armor from Egypt to assist them in confronting terrorist organizations and undermining their attacks in the East and West of the country, Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) commends Egypt's efforts to bring peace in Niger, emphasizing the importance of Egypt's positive role in maintaining security and achieving peace in the African continent via helping countries militarily.
The Egyptian military aid, which included 30 BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance vehicles, 20 mortar shells and 122mm cannons as well as over 2,000 automatic pistols and AK-47 assault rifles along with training Nigerien special forces to secure the porous border areas through which Boko Haram and other elements linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists infiltrate; was widely praised by prominent leaders in Niger.
