Mosques have been intended targets in the mass destruction that Gaza is going through by the Zionist attacks since the 7th of October. These attacks are to be classified as a war of annihilation, as the occupation has destroyed 31 mosques along with partial destruction of scores of other mosques.
Statements of the Palestinian Ministry of Endowments reveal that, in all its military operations against Gaza, the Zionist occupation used to target mosques. However, its present attacks are the most sever and repressive. In the 2021 operation called “Guardian of the Walls,” 3 mosques were completely destroyed and other 40 mosques were partially destroyed. Yet, the number was far more in the 2014 Operation Protective Edge; about 110 mosques were completely or partially destroyed in Gaza Strip.
It seems that occupation indiscriminately targets places of worship in the besieged Gaza. Churches have not been spared from the brutal Israeli bombardment, with three churches suffering significant damage during this heinous attack on Gaza. One of the most prominent of these churches is the Orthodox Church, the third oldest church in the world, located in the center of Gaza. It was hit by Israeli shelling and several Palestinians were killed as a result of this attack.

AOCE stresses that the occupation's attacks on places of worship are a continuation of its terrorist crimes that go against all religious and humanitarian values and customs. The occupation has not respected their sanctity of these places of worship, but rather targeted and destroyed them. These crimes violate all international laws and regulations that guarantee freedom of worship. They will remain engraved in the memory of the Palestinian people, Muslims, and the world forever.
