Al-Azhar Denounces Munich Shooting and Appreciates German Government's Prudence

Al-Azhar denounces in the strongest terms the shooting attack that targeted a shopping center in the southern city of Munich, Friday evening and has killed and injured multiple individuals. Al-Azhar also stresses its strong condemnation of such heinous crimes that seek to undermine the security and stability of the German society, regardless of their motives, and affirms that those who terrorize and shed the blood of innocent people are hostile to the Divine Faiths and human values and principles that call for prohibition of bloodshed, and foster tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Al-Azhar appreciates the German government's wisdom and objectivity that it did not hasten to lay blame for the accident on Islam before investigating its concomitant circumstances and ascertaining the motives of its perpetrators, expressing confidence that the German people together with the German government will stand firm in the face of such transient crimes.
Al-Azhar also expresses condolence to the German people and government and the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
