Al-Azhar Condemns the Örebro Massacre in Sweden and Calls for the Protection of ‎Refugees and Migrants from "White Terrorism"‎

Al-Azhar unequivocally condemns the abhorrent terrorist attack that targeted innocent people at an education center for adults ‎ in the city of Örebro, Sweden, resulting in 11 casualties and numerous injuries. Al-Azhar expresses its sincerest condolences to the Kingdom and the people of ‎Sweden, as well as to the bereaved families of the victims, and expresses unwavering solidarity with them in the face of this horrific terrorist crime.‎
Meanwhile, Al-Azhar raises concerns regarding the alarming escalation of "white nationalist" terrorism and far-right extremism in Europe and America, stressing that such phenomena constitute a global threat that ‎requires urgent international intervention to address. Furthermore, it urges global media outlets to maintain objectivity in their coverage of such terrorist incidents and to avoid justifications that ‎frame them as "isolated acts" or "shooting incidents" when the assailant is not Muslim. ‎ Conversely, should the perpetrator have any association with Islam, they are swiftly categorized as a terrorist. ‎This media partiality fuels ongoing violence and provides white terrorist groups with a rationale to propagate their their toxic ideology without accountability or deterrence.‎
