Dr. Reham Salama, Executive Director of Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE), received the Under Secretary of the Malaysian Ministry of Defense for Policy and Strategic Planning and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, Dr. Salama gave a brief introductory presentation on the mechanism of AOCE’s work and discussed the most crucial issues being researched and studied in its 13 units.
Moreover, the delegation was acquainted with research and studies related to extremist characteristics, their elusive recruiting mechanism, and the global refugee crisis. In addition, she presented the recent issues of AOCE’s written publications in Arabic, English, and French.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Malaysian Ministry of Defense expressed his great appreciation for the efforts exerted by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, under the auspices of His Eminence the Grand Imam Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayeb. Finally, he stressed the importance of the roles played by Al-Azhar affiliated bodies, including the AOCE, in promoting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among different individuals and societies.
