In the light of the collaboration between AL-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) and Egyptian Universities, AOCE held a symposium entitled “Religious Illiteracy and Social Media fuel Extremism” at Kafr El-Sheikh University. AOCE Researchers aimed at raising youth awareness and promoting human values, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among young generations.

In addition to defining extremism, its origins and how to prevent it, and the extremist groups’ exploitation of social media in recruiting youth, and the repercussions of religious illiteracy, they highlighted the importance of educational and religious institutions in raising awareness about the moderate Islamic teachings and refuting extremist allegations.
