AOCE Receives Uzbek Ambassador to Discuss Prospects of Cooperation in CVE

Within the continuous efforts of Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) in strengthening international partnerships and exchanging expertise to confront the accelerating challenges posed by extremist ideologies, Dr. Reham Salama, AOCE’s Executive Director, welcomed Ambassador Mansourbek Klichev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Egypt. This important official visit aimed to deepen their understanding of the AOCE's operational mechanisms and diverse activities, while also exploring broad prospects for fruitful cooperation between the AOCE and Uzbek institutions concerned with countering extremism at all levels.

During the meeting, Dr. Reham Salama delivered a thorough exposition of the AOCE’s precise research methodologies and advanced monitoring mechanisms that track extremist content across various digital platforms and traditional media outlets, alongside analyzing the discourse of extremist groups in several languages. She pointed out that these strategies are designed to correct misconceptions, spread genuine religious teachings, and protect youth and communities from falling into the clutches of extremism.

Further, Dr. Salama provided an in-depth analysis of the latest data related to the spread of terrorist operations in various regions around the world, with a particular focus on the African continent, which is currently experiencing a notable escalation in the activities of extremist groups, along with other regions affected by violent extremism. This presentation provided a clear vision of current global challenges in this area, and the geographical and ideological dimensions driving this complex phenomenon.

The meeting culminated in a constructive and fruitful discussion on enhancing cooperation between AOCE and relevant Uzbek institutions and exchanging expertise in combating extremism. It is noteworthy that this collaboration underscores Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and its Observatory's commitment to lead a vital role in the international arena in countering violent extremism (CVE). This commitment is achieved by building bridges of partnership with countries that share a common vision and responsibility, to achieve global security and stability and spread the values of moderation, peace, and tolerance.
