His Eminence Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, (MCE) extends his sincere congratulations to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, kings, presidents, and princes of both Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, praying to Allah, the Almighty, to bless all humanity with goodness, security and prosperity.
As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, it is profoundly distressing to witness the aggression that our brothers in the Gaza Strip have been suffering for almost two years. The brutality has surpassed all limits of imagination and perception, showing no mercy to children, the elderly, women, or the sick; not a stone, a tree, or a human being has been spared. All international and humanitarian conventions have been violated, with no regard for religious, moral or conscience restraint.
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar calls upon the international community and all powerful regional and international entities to fully assume their responsibilities and hasten for lifting of the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, which has turned the lives of two million Palestinians into an unbearable hell.
His Eminence stresses the importance of exerting maximum pressure to stop such aggression immediately and unconditionally, and to open all crossings to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to save the innocent who face death day and night. He prays to Allah, the Almighty, to grant them victory over their enemy, to strengthen their standing, and to protect their homeland.
