In collaboration with the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services in Cairo, Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) hosted representatives of European and Arab civil society to promote religious and cultural dialogue under the umbrella of Arab-European Dialogue.
In an inspiring step to enhance values of tolerance and mutual cooperation, Dr. Reham Salama, the AOCE Executive Director, received a delegation of representatives of European and Arab civil society institutions.
The meeting reflects AOCE's pivotal role in building cultural and intellectual bridges between East and West. The discussion focused on key themes, most notably examining the role of religion in the development of societies and exploring how religious principles and values can effectively contribute to comprehensive societal progress.
Further, it addressed the importance of promoting intercultural dialogue and opening channels for constructive and reciprocal dialogue between different cultures, which contributes to supporting the values of tolerance and confronting extremist ideologies that threaten global security and stability.
The visit highlights Al-Azhar's commitment to its essential role in promoting moderate religious discourse, combating extremist ideas, and presenting an intellectual model that promotes the values of coexistence and understanding among peoples and religions.
