Today the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar heads the third round of dialogue between Elders of the East and the West

Geneva witnesses today the launch of the third round of dialogue between Elders of the East and the West, headed by the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the President of the Muslim Council of Elders Prof. Ahmed El-Tayeb, in cooperation with the World Council of Churches (WCC).
The Grand Imam is scheduled to deliver a speech at the opening session of the meeting, followed by a speech by the WCC Secretary General. Then there will be speeches given by a number of participant members of the Muslim Council of Elders of the World Council of Churches.
This third round of the dialogue will take two days, and at the end there will be a final communiqué that includes the outcomes of the discussions as well as the agreed upon initiatives and joint ventures to spread peace all over the world.
Moreover, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar will deliver an important speech tomorrow, Saturday, at the Ecumenical Institute on "the role of people of religions in the achievement of world peace," before a large number of religious leaders.
The Grand Imam arrived on Thursday evening to Switzerland in a visit that will take several days, in accompaniment of a high-level delegation consisting of: Field Marshal Abdel Rahman Suwar al-Dhahab, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders; Prof. Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq, a member of Al-Azhar Senior Scholars and a member of the Muslim Council of Elders; Muhammad Quraish Shihab, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders; Dr. Ali al-Naimi, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders; Judge Muhammad Abdel Salam, the legal Adviser to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar; and Ambassador Abdel Rahman Mousa, the Advisor  of the International students of  Al-Azhar.
